My mum worked as a librarian for a number of years and ever since I was a child, I was always surrounded by books. I actually got into trouble when I was still in primary school for reading books under the desk instead of paying attention to the teacher. Unfortunately, for the last couple of years, I spent less and less time reading for fun and more and more just for work. I mean it was still interesting reading most of the time, but you simply cannot create this whole new world in your mind just using your imagination while you read say "Software Engineering, 9th Edition" by Ian Sommerville. It seemed that the time when I could just escape the difficulties of daily life by immersing myself in stories and worlds created by great writers and my imagination were mostly gone. While I was in Prague around Christmas time, I went to the Municipal Library of Prague. All these years I visited the library before I left Czech Republic, every time I entered the building, I was always welcomed by this structure made entirely of books. It looked like a large cylinder with an opening so you could look inside. When you did, it seemed as if the cylinder was infinitely tall, going hundreds of meters up and down. It was fascinating. This time, I had my camera with me, so I decided to have a little fun. I am writing this post to remind myself of the beauty and love I have for books. I have to say that the Kindle I bought recently is helping me find the time to read for fun a bit more again.
